Invisalign Cost in Calgary (2026): What Affects Your Price

Invisalign Cost in Calgary (2026): What Affects Your Price

Invisalign cost in Calgary depends on how far your teeth need to move and how long treatment takes. There is no single price. Each dentist sets their own fees, and the abbreviated Alberta Dental Association 2026 suggested fee guide does not list a fee for clear aligners. The way to learn your real cost is a consultation and a written estimate. Below, we explain what drives the price, what a fee should include, how orthodontic insurance works and how to spread the cost.

At The Port Dental Clinic in Calgary NE, our general dentists examine your teeth, take a 3D digital scan and explain your options before you commit. Read more about Invisalign clear aligners at our clinic.

How much does Invisalign cost in Calgary?

Calgary clinics set their own Invisalign fees, so quotes vary from office to office. A fair quote is built around your teeth. After your assessment, ask for a written estimate that shows the treatment fee and what it includes. Your insurer can tell you what it expects to pay, so you know the balance left for you.

Price ranges you find online can help with early budgeting. They often mix different Invisalign packages, though, and some leave out retainers or extra aligners. When you compare quotes, check that each one covers the same items.

What affects the price of Invisalign?

These are the main things that move an Invisalign fee up or down.

  • How much movement you need. Closing a small gap takes fewer aligners than correcting a bite. Malocclusion, meaning teeth and jaws that don’t meet properly, usually takes longer to treat.
  • The Invisalign package. Align Technology, the maker of Invisalign, offers packages under names such as Express, Lite and Moderate. The package depends on how much your teeth need to move. Our guide to the types of Invisalign explains each one.
  • Treatment length. Longer plans mean more aligners and more check-up visits. You usually switch to a new set of aligners every one to two weeks, as your dentist directs (Invisalign).
  • Refinements. These are extra aligners made if teeth don’t follow the plan exactly. Ask how refinements are handled in your quote.
  • Retainers. A retainer holds your teeth in their new position after treatment. Some quotes include the first set and some don’t.
  • Dental work needed first. Cavities or gum problems are treated before aligners start. That care is billed separately, and insurance usually covers it under a different category from orthodontics.

What should an Invisalign fee include?

Ask for a written estimate that lists each item. Invisalign says a quote generally includes the treatment plan, digital scans, all your aligners and check-in visits. Some practices also include retainers or refinement aligners. Items worth checking on any quote:

  • The consultation, exam and X-rays
  • A 3D digital scan of your teeth
  • The digital treatment plan, which shows how each tooth is planned to move
  • All aligners in your package, plus any refinement aligners
  • Attachments, which are small tooth-coloured bumps bonded to some teeth to help the aligners grip
  • Check-up visits during treatment
  • Your first set of retainers

If an item is not on the estimate, ask whether it costs extra and how much. Retainers and refinements are worth asking about by name.

Does insurance cover Invisalign in Alberta?

Many group dental plans include orthodontic coverage, and it may apply to Invisalign as well as braces. Plans vary widely, so check these points in your benefits booklet or with your insurer:

  • Lifetime orthodontic maximum. Orthodontic coverage usually has its own lifetime limit, separate from your yearly maximum.
  • Coinsurance. This is the share of the fee your plan pays.
  • Age limits. Some plans cover orthodontics only for dependent children up to a set age.
  • Waiting periods. Some plans require you to be enrolled for a time before orthodontic claims are paid.
  • Payment schedule. Some insurers pay orthodontic benefits in stages over the course of treatment.

We direct bill most insurance plans. Before you start, you can ask your insurer for a predetermination (a written estimate of what it will pay), and we can help with the paperwork. That way you know your share before you commit. More details are on our insurance and CDCP page.

Does the CDCP cover Invisalign?

No. The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is the federal dental program for eligible residents who don’t have access to dental insurance. Its coverage page states that orthodontic services are currently not available. The CDCP can still help with other care, such as cleanings or fillings you may need before aligners start. We are a registered CDCP provider.

How can I pay for Invisalign over time?

LendCare financing is available at The Port Dental Clinic. Financing is a loan, so read the full terms before you sign.

See our dental financing page for how to apply. The Canada Revenue Agency also lists orthodontic work as an eligible medical expense on your tax return.

Is Invisalign more expensive than braces?

It depends on the case, since fees for both follow the complexity of treatment. Cost is rarely the only deciding factor. Aligners need to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day to work as planned. Braces stay on all the time, so wear time is not something you manage. Your bite and your daily routine matter too. Our article on Invisalign advantages and disadvantages compares the two.

Some bite problems may need an orthodontist, a dentist who has completed a university specialty program in orthodontics. Your dentist will explain whether a specialist is needed.

When to book an Invisalign consultation

Book a visit if you notice any of these signs:

  • Crowded or overlapping teeth that are hard to floss
  • Gaps between teeth that are getting wider
  • Teeth that have shifted since braces, or a retainer that no longer fits
  • Upper and lower teeth that don’t meet evenly when you bite
  • Chipping or uneven wear on your front teeth

If you have tooth pain, swelling or a broken tooth, call us first. That needs care before any straightening plan, and we offer same-day emergency appointments when possible. Outside clinic hours, call Health Link 811 for 24/7 advice from a registered nurse. Go to the nearest emergency department for facial swelling with fever. Call 911 for trouble breathing or swallowing.

Common questions about Invisalign cost

Do I need a consultation to get an Invisalign price?

Yes. Your fee depends on how your teeth need to move, so we examine your teeth and take a 3D scan first. Ask for a written estimate that lists what is included.

Can I claim Invisalign on my Canadian taxes?

The Canada Revenue Agency lists orthodontic work as an eligible medical expense. Purely cosmetic procedures, such as teeth whitening, are not eligible. Keep your receipts and check with your tax preparer.

Does insurance pay for Invisalign for adults?

Some plans do. Others limit orthodontic coverage to children up to a set age. Check your lifetime orthodontic maximum and any age limit, or ask your insurer for a predetermination before you start.

Does the CDCP cover Invisalign?

No. The Canadian Dental Care Plan lists orthodontic services as currently not available. It may still cover other care you need, such as cleanings or fillings.
